But Untitled Goose Game’s Lovely
Edition and vinyl is something new,
with 100% recyclable eco-friendly
packaging (the vinyl’s repurposed).
It’s the evolution of the firm’s
ethical ethos. For instance, it
produced the
Fortnite World Cup
using recyclable
cups. “We’re trying
to move the needle
as best we can with
the influence wehave,” says co-owner Jon M Gibson.
“Not only were we engineering
sustainable packaging, we also had
the collector in mind, in terms of it
feeling substantial. It was important
that our eco-friendly packaging
didn’t feel cheap or flimsy — that it
felt premium, while still being
environmentally conscious.” Even so,
it’s no more expensive than the
firm’s usual limited print editions.
“When I look through my digital
music collection, I fail to ‘feel’ too
much of anything,” says co-owner
Amanda White. “But
if I am looking
through my record
collection, I recall
memories
associated with
every vinyl. [...] We
feel an obligation to
be eco-conscious with our physical
goods, we also feel an obligation
to create physical goods, because
digital just doesn’t leave the
same impression.”
Is this just the start, then? “Hell
yes! The Lovely Edition of Untitled
Goose Game was our first step,”
says Gibson. Eco-friendly collectibles
sound honking great to us.The Lovely Edition includes
the game, a foldout map,
and item catalogue (the
