as Lego bricks or Hotwheels track
pieces is Dirt 5’s Playground mode, a level creation
mode that offers similar imagination-stimulating
creativity in an easy-to-use drag-and-drop editor
in the style of, say, classic Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater.We get to try out a work-in-progress version of
the mode, and it’s already easy to search through
the levels, with multiple categories to highlight
different types of stage. Built around using certain
vehicles, even the harder Playground levels feel
doable, and offer a range of different event types.
You’ll be able to make and play Gymkhana (scored
stunt attack arenas), Smash Attack (destroy inflatable
objects against the clock), and Gate Crasher (timed
checkpoint challenge) challenges.CHECKING POINTS
Gate Crasher is the standout event type, allowing us
to create obstacle courses and looping lanes for cars
to gun down. In some, getting a good time is the
challenge, but for others just passing the finish line
is challenge enough. Objects are sufficiently varied to
allow you to create some really devious courses – as
long as you can finish the track yourself to approve it
for publication. Dirt 5’s main modes will have plenty
to keep you engaged, but Playgrounds could give you
reason to stick with it for some time to come.Littered with plenty of
bumps and ramps, your
tracks can provide some
