We saw similar trends in Kansas City to what we saw nationwide. AT&T has an

network is slower and less reliable than its 4G network, giving absolutely no
reason to choose AT&T 5G in Kansas City. T-Mobile falls in the middle on

speeds at locations that have both 4G and 5G available.
Kansas City has Verizon 5G scattered through the downtown and Crossroads
areas, but it’s spotty enough that we didn’t encounter it. Instead, we detected
one Verizon 5G connection out in Shawnee and one at the Chiefs stadium, both
with sub-15ms latency.

such as augmented and virtual reality applications in the future. AT&T’s and
T-Mobile’s 5G systems delivered ping times longer than 5G in Kansas City,

doesn’t matter how short your ping times are if you can get 5G at only one
location in Shawnee.
LAS VEGAS: AT&T
AT&T won Las Vegas by having the best 4G performance by far, with average
speeds around double what we saw from the other carriers this year. This was
one city where AT&T 5G didn’t do too badly, either, with speeds at just about
the same level as 4G—apparently, the best you can hope for given AT&T’s
narrow 5G channels. Our driver didn’t encounter any of AT&T’s “5G+”
millimeter-wave sites, which the carrier doesn’t give a map for.
