flywheel into an entirely reasonable
half a square metre’s floor space.
What’s more, there’s live and on-
demand coaching available through
Echelon’s app, although you’ll need a
separate subscription to make the
most of that particular feature.

T3 SAYS: Hop on and pedal to show
your mettle.

ECHELON SMART CONNECT EX3 MAX BIKE
From £1,119, echelonfit.uk

The rules from on high might be
easing somewhat, but we’ve all
gotten quite used to being at home
by now. If you’d rather steer well
clear of the streets, Echelon’s new
static bike may well be the best way
to cough and splutter your way
through a serious pedal-based
workout right in your front room. It
features a host of smart integrations,
from Bluetooth monitoring to
Facebook, Fitbit and Strava
connectivity for tracking your
progress. It’s quickly and easily
adjustable, and massively compact,
packing its sturdy frame and 13kg

GARMIN 130 PLUS
£170, garmin.com

If you do fancy taking two wheels to
the great outdoors, you could do
worse than clipping on Garmin’s
upgraded cycle computer, which
bumps down a whole host of features
from the 500 range and squeezes
them into the compact shell of the

  1. There’s now a host of mountain
    bike-specific features that take
    advantage of a newly added
    hardware accelerometer, along with
    crash and incident detection and
support for up to 20 individual
sensors. The Plus also sees the 130
    being introduced to Garmin’s
    ClimbPro system, which tracks just

how well you’re able to tackle those
gruelling ascents, as well as
supporting structured workouts and
(we’re promised) one day gaining
smart trainer functionality. At the
price and the size, this is probably
the sharpest (and, crucially, lightest)
GPS cycle computer going.

T3 SAYS: Serious cycle tracking.

HIDRATESPARK STEEL
From $60 (around £48), hidratespark.com

Not everybody gets the appeal of
smart water bottles. Those are the
kind of people that don’t get so
laser-focus embroiled in work or
play that they forget to look after
themselves. Good for them: for the
rest of us, a smart water bottle is a
great way to remember to glug
down the clear stuff on the regular.
Following the success of the
HidrateSpark 3 and after considering
feedback from its user base, Hidrate
has switched out the plastic outer for
a vacuum-sealed steel number which
helps your drink stay cold far longer.
There’s your choice of straw or chug

spouts, a couple of different sizes,
and the lighting and smarts move to
a fancy RGB module screwed into
the base of the bottle, easily removed
and recharged when you’re ready to
wash out the main body. There’s even
a ‘find my bottle’ function, should
you leave it somewhere mid-workout.

T3 SAYS: Keeping hydrated: fun!
