FILTER BY EFFECTS
Now let’s look at filtering layers by
effects. If you look at the type in
the artboards in the example shown
here, you’ll see there are three
instances of the word “WEB” where
we’ve added a Bevel & Emboss layer
style. So what if we wanted to filter
just those layers so we could change
the effect or some other aspect of
the style? Easy!
Change the Kind drop-down
menu to Effect. The icons will be
replaced by a second drop-down
menu. Choose the effect for which
you’re looking in that drop-down
menu. In this case, we chose Bevel
& Emboss, which happens to be
the top option. You’ll see that only
the layers with that effect are now
visible in the Layers panel, which
happens to be the three type layers.
Initially, you won’t be able to
make your changes to all the layers
at the same time. Make your
changes to the layer style on one
of the layers, and then Right-click
that layer and select Copy Layer Style.
Now you can select all the other
layers, Right-click on one of the lay-
ers, and choose Paste Layer Style.
The selected layers will all update
at once. Imagine if you had lots of
layers with the same effect that you
needed to change. This makes the
process so much easier.
