SEARCH BY BLEND MODES
Moving on, we’ll now look for circles that
have a blend mode applied. In this case, there
are three with the Multiply blend. To filter layers
that have blending modes, choose Mode in the
Kind drop-down menu, and the icons to the
right will be replaced by a drop-down menu
that contains all the different blend modes. Just
select the one for which you want to search (in
this case we’re looking for Multiply).
So now that it’s filtered out those three circle
layers set to the Multiply blend mode, not only
can we change the blend mode of all them at
once, we can also apply any other changes while
we have them selected. For example, we’ll also
change the color of the circles to the blue in our
CC Library and then change the blend mode to
Hard Light. When you change the blend mode,
you’ll see the layers vanish from the Layers panel
because the Layers panel is still filtering only layers
set to Multiply, which brings up an important
point: Pay attention to the order in which you
make these changes. If you were to change the
blend mode first, all the layers would disappear
from the Layers panel, so you’d want to change
the color first, and then the blend mode.FILTER BY LABEL COLOR
Now let’s look at some other filtering options
that can be useful with files that have lots of
layers. This filter, as well as many of the other
filters we’ve discussed, will work better if you
rename and add color labels to layers as you
work. In this example, we’ve added color labels
to distinguish layers that are meant for Twitter,
Facebook, and Instagram.
Here, we want to make some changes to
the graphics for Instagram. It would be easier
to work on those layers if they were the only
ones visible in the Layers panel. In the Kind drop-
down menu, select Color, and then in the sec-
ond drop-down menu that appears, choose the
color for the layers you want to filter. In this case,
all of our Instagram layers are labeled orange so
we selected Orange.
