PHOTOSHOP ON iPAD TIPS
- MASK HAIR/FUR BETTER WITH
THE REFINE EDGE BRUSH
The Refine Edge Brush has made its way to
Photoshop on iPad; however, it may not be
easy to find, since it relies on a selection
being made first. I recommend that you start
with Select Subject from the selection tools,
and then tap the three-dot menu (...) at the
bottom of the screen to show Refine Edge.
Now you can brush along the edge of the hair/
fur of your subject to bring out those details.
Lastly, you can output it as a new layer with
a mask. - ADD A CLIPPED CURVES
ADJUSTMENT TO ADJUST
TONAL RANGES
Another one of the most popular requested
features from Photoshop desktop is a Curves
adjustment layer. It’s here! Just tap the three-
dot icon (...) in the Layer actions menu on
the right, and choose Add Clipped adjust-
ment. From the popup, tap Curves. Now you
can do a nondestructive Curves adjustment to
your layer. - SELECT OBJECTS QUICKLY WITH
THE OBJECT SELECT TOOL
Another hidden gem in Photoshop on iPad
is the Adobe Sensei-powered Object Select
tool. Just think of it as Select Subject on a
tool. With the Object Select tool, drag out a
rectangular area around any object in your
image that you want to select and it will more
often than not select it perfectly. - SUBTRACT FROM A SELECTION
USING THE TOUCH MODIFIER
By default, when you drag the Lasso on an
image that already has a selection, you’ll add
to that selection. By holding down the touch
modifier, you can quickly toggle to a mode
where you’re subtracting from the selection.
85. ROUND TRIP BETWEEN LIGHTROOM ON iPAD
AND PHOTOSHOP ON iPAD
One of the features I’ve waited for the most is the ability to roundtrip between Lightroom on iPad
and Photoshop on iPad. Now it’s easy, even with RAW files. Just tap on your image in Lightroom,
go to the share menu, and choose Edit in Photoshop. This will send a copy of your image over
to Photoshop for you to edit. Once you’re finished editing, just tap Send to Lightroom at the top
of your Photoshop window to send the edited copy of your image back to Lightroom.
