United States, packed with many of the fitness
tracking features that make Apple Watch so
successful. As a result, Fitbit sold about 16
million units of its smart fitness devices last
year, and that figure should balloon as
Google takes the reins. It currently has a
12.2% market share, and Samsung comes
in third with an 11.8% share. Unlike with
the iPhone, however, where Apple has been
leveraging its market share in recent years,
Apple Watch currently has a 50% share of the
overall smartwatch market, and that could
swell further.


Keen to hold onto its dominant position in the
sector, Apple used its September Keynote -
typically reserved for next-generation iPhone
launches - to show off Apple Watch Series 6,
which elevates the experience with a stunning
design and blood oxygen monitoring. But as
well as the all-new Apple Watch, the company
took an unprecedented step: launching an
alternative Apple Watch that’s cheaper, whilst
retaining all of the features users know and
love about the device. The new Apple Watch
SE packs the essential features of the Apple
Watch into a modern design and a more
affordable price. Apple says that the new SE has
the largest and most advanced Retina display,
allowing customers to see more information
on their wrist at the same time, as well as the
same accelerometer, gyroscope, and always-
on altimeter as Apple Watch Series 6. The new
low-cost device, which will sit between the
“premium” Series 6 and yet-to-be-discontinued
Series 3 - comes with the latest motion sensors
and microphone, as well as robust health and
safety capabilities including fall detection,
