WHAT YOU GET Sweet, smoky bangers
containing sweet potato, roasted red pepper,
green lentils and black turtle beans. Mature
cheddar gives them an extra hit of flavour – we
think these would work best as a veggie option
at your summer barbecues.
THE HFG VERDICT If you fancy a veggie
sausage and aren’t looking for a meat substitute,
you’ll love these. We liked seeing the beans
and pepper pieces when we bit into them.

gluten free vegan

WHAT YOU GET Six very green breakfast-
style sausages made with mushrooms, carrot
and roast tomatoes, flavoured with parsley,
sage and black pepper. Good with smashed
avocado and a slice of wholemeal toast.
THE HFG VERDICT We liked the novelty of
the colour, while the fibre content won them
points for nutrition. However, they were among
the saltiest sausages we tried, and we felt the
flavour could be more exciting.
SCORE: 6/

SPANISH-STYLE
Love Your Veg! 8 Chorizo Style Shroomdogs,
£2.50/280g, Sainsbury’s
vegan

WHAT YOU GET Chorizo-style sausages
containing mushrooms, pea flour, vegetable
suet and onions, flavoured with paprika. We’d
recommend serving them with sweet potato
wedges and a tahini dressing.
THE HFG VERDICT The smokiness of the
paprika seasoning in these ‘dogs’ really does
give a similar flavour profile to chorizo,
meaning you really won’t miss the meat
if you’re enjoying a meat-free day.
