A dip in the jet stream
pattern in the Four Corners
region will result in high
winds that affect areas of
Northern and Southern
California through Tuesday.
Wildfires continue to burn
there and with local strong
winds expected, fire could
spread rapidly. Coupled
with the ongoing drought
and very low relative
humidity levels, this is an
extreme fire threat.

Rounds of rain, some potentially heavy,
are expected Thursday, with seasonable

A robust storm system will continue to
bring winterlike conditions to portions of

Texas to the Great Lakes and into por-
tions of the Northeast.
Unseasonably cold air will spread over
the western and central states. The
Northeast will be seasonably cool. Strong
offshore winds as well as dry conditions
will create a high fire threat in California.
A slightly warmer but seasonable day is
forecast this afternoon. A thick cloud
cover is expected over the Northeast,
with some breaks of sunshine farther
south. Rain will spread into New England
by the afternoon, with showers and some
morning drizzle over the Alleghenies.
