it. The top-notch cast,
direction from Susanne
Bier (The Night
Manager) and the
fact that it’s adapted
by the Big Little Lies
scriptwriter David E
Kelley from Jean Hanff
Korelitz’s book You
Should Have Known
are signs of its pedigree
and clues to what’s in
store for Kidman’s
therapist character,
Grace.

The Undoing
Sky Atlantic/Now TV,
2am/9pm

A deluxe thriller
starring Hugh Grant
and Nicole Kidman
as married, moneyed
Manhattanites whose
lives are shattered
when the mother of
another child at their
kids’ private school is
found murdered. This
has a lot to recommend

is nothing if not bold
and traps us in Nathan’s
hellish headscape.
Tovey is excellent at
keeping us guessing —
is he a total wrong’un
or a reformed man
trying to make amends
for a terrible accident?
Either way it doesn’t
look as though things
are going to pan out
very well for him as the
four-parter plays out
across the week.

probably all over the
corpse, which would
take some explaining,
not least to his wife. If
that’s not tough enough
for him, things then get
weirdly supernatural.
Bob, played rather
fabulously against type
by Bertie Carvel, seems
to have heard from
Elise beyond the grave.
The scriptwriting (by
Neil Cross and based on
his 2009 novel Burial)

to a missing woman,
Elise, who seems to
have died after things
went terribly wrong
at a rather indulgent
party. And Elise
happens to be Holly’s
sister. Weird, huh? Bob
was with Nathan on the
night Elise died and
brings news that nearby
woods where Elise’s
body was deposited are
about to be developed.
And Nathan’s DNA is

where he’s leading what
looks like a much
happier life shared with
his wife, Holly (Amrita
Acharia). But then
there’s a knock on the
door from a bedraggled
and unwelcome visitor
called Bob. Yup, poor
Nathan suffers from
a syndrome afflicting
many in ITV thrillers: a
dark secret. What was
so troubling Nathan in
2013 is his connection
