Tutors
As a practicing volunteer IELTS tutor, I conclude that many and possibly most IELTS tutors are
aware of the IELTS scam. My colleagues report that they repeatedly see their students earning
scores of 6.5 for speaking and writing. These scores are much lower than scores that they
consistently earn in mock examinations, as assessed by experienced, qualified IELTS tutors.
Many IELTS tutors without investigative research backgrounds hold a simplified, partially correct
view of the IELTS scam. They regard IELTS as a quota system that only offers four band scores of
7.0 or higher to the top circa 10% of test-takers to control migration. In other words, they accept
