All four of the antivirus testing labs we follow include
Trend Micro in their reports, and it earned a range of
scores, from perfect to fail (though admittedly, the
failed test used Trend Micro’s enterprise-level product).
Its aggregate lab score of 8.5 is the lowest among

attention. And it has done much better in the past.
Kaspersky Security Cloud and Norton both managed to
reach 9.7 points, currently the top score among those
tested by all four labs. Bitdefender beat that with an

three labs.
Trend Micro didn’t fare nearly as well in our hands-on
malware protection test. With a score of 7.8 points, it’s
near the bottom. Bitdefender also turned in a relatively
poor score in this test, but its excellent lab scores
redeem it. Tested with the same set of samples,

9.8 points.
For a look at how each antivirus handles the very latest
malware, we use a collection of 100 malware-hosting
URLs recently detected in the wild. Trend Micro
prevented 94 percent of the malware downloads, almost
all of them by keeping the browser from coming near
the malware-hosting site. McAfee Total Protection,

perfect 100 percent, but Trend Micro’s 94 percent is
decent.

your system. Rather, they masquerade as sensitive sites,
hoping to steal your login credentials. When last tested,
