It’sa deliciousbitofculinaryhistorythatthegrahamcracker
wasnamedaftera Presbyterianministerwhobelievedthatrich
foodscausedimpurethoughtsanddeeds.ThegoodReverend
Graham’schastecookiewouldbecorruptedinthe 1927 book
TrampingandTrailingWiththeGirlScouts, whichincludeda
recipethataddedtoastedmarshmallowandmoltenchocolate:
a s’more.Unfortunately,thetraditionalHersheybarsforsake
sensuousflavorsforchalkinessandone-dimensionalsweet-
ness,andthemajorcontributionsofthemarshmalloware
sugarshockandscaldedfingertips,thankstothenapalm-like
qualitiesofa half-carbonizedglobofgoo.Still,welovetheidea
