MYTHS, ORIGIN
The Inca myths of origin that have come down to us are preserved in the Spanish
chronicles, a fact that is important to bear in mind, as the chroniclers often gave
their own, Catholic flavor and interpretation to the recorded events. Catherine
Julien attempted an original and highly interesting critical reading of the early
chronicles in an effort to interpret the form and content of these recorded myths
in their original versions (and recordings in the knotted-cord quipus).
