This classic shell pattern is given new life with dashes of color in
the fabric to transform it into something new.

Ch a multiple of 4 sts plus 3.

Row 1 (RS): 3 dc in 4th ch from hk, sk 2 ch, sc in next ch, *ch 2, 3
dc in next ch, sk 2 ch, sc in next ch; rep from * across, do not turn,
drop color.

Row 2: Join new color to start of prev row at t-ch, sc in top of t-ch,
*sc in next 3 dc, sc in next sc, ch 3; rep from * across, change
color, turn.

Row 3: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 3 dc in 1st ch, [sc, ch 2, 3 dc] in ea
ch-3 sp across, sc in last sc, do not turn, drop color.

Row 4: Join next color to top of t-ch, sc in t-ch, sc in next 3 dc,
*sc in sc, ch 3, sc in next 3 dc; rep from * across, sc in last sc,
change color, turn.

Rep rows 3 and 4 to desired length.

1 ch, v-st in next ch; rep from * across to last ch, 2 dc in last
ch, do not turn.

Row 2: Join new color to top of t-ch on prev row, ch 3, dc in
next dc, *sk 1 dc, dc btw next 2 dc, ch 1, dc btw next 2 dc, dtr
in same ch as v-st on foundation, dc in ch-1 sp, dtr in same ch
