This pattern takes a new twist on an old technique
with a mod, print-inspired fabric.
Ch a multiple of 10 sts plus 4.
Row 1 (RS): Dc in 4th ch from hk and ea ch across,
turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in ea st across, change color, turn.
Rows 3 and 4: Rep row 2, do not change color after
row 4.
Row 5: Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in ea st across, turn.
Rep rows 2–5 to desired length.
Join color to 4th st on row 5, sl st btw the next 5 sts,
turn 90 degrees, sl st btw the next 4 rows, turn 90
degrees, sl st btw the next 5 sts, turn 90 degrees, sl
st btw the rows to join (making a rectangle). Using
chart as a guide, sl st crochet rectangles 4 sts away
or 4 rows up.
