This cabled fabric is thicker than ribbing and makes for great hats

and cowls.

Tunisian Extended Double Crochet (Tedc): Yo, insert hk, from right

to left, into front vert bar of st indicated, pull up a lp, yo and pull

through 1 lp on hk, yo and pull through 2 lps, leaving last lp on hk.

Ch an odd number of sts.

Row 1 (RS) Fwd: Pull up lp in 2nd ch from hk and ea ch across. Rtn:

Yo, pull through 1 lp on hk, *yo, pull through 2 lps on hk; rep from

* to end.

Row 2 Fwd: Tss across. Rtn: Work off lps as normal.

Row 3 Fwd: (Lp on hk counts as 1st st.) *Tedc in bottom of next st

2 rows below, Tss in next st; rep from * across. Rtn: Work off lps as

normal.

Rep rows 2 and 3 to desired length.

Last row: *Tss next st, and pull through lp on hk; rep from * across,
