Shells and chain spaces make a lovely lace fabric in the overall sim-
ple lines of the Tunisian simple stitch.
Ch a multiple of 5 sts plus 2.
Row 1 (RS) Fwd: Pull up lp in 2nd ch from hk and ea ch across.
Rtn: Yo, pull through 1 lp on hk, yo, pull through 2 lps on hk, ch
1, yo, pull through 4 lps on hk (gathers the next 3 sts, making a
sh), ch 1, yo, pull through 2 lps on hk; rep from to last st, pull
through 2 lps on hk.
Row 2 Fwd: (Lp on hk counts as 1 st.) Tss in next st, insert hk in
next ch-sp, pull up a lp, insert hk in top of sh, pull up lp, insert hk
in next ch-sp and pull up a lp, Tss in each of next 2 sts; rep from
across. Rtn: Yo, pull through 1 lp on hk, yo, pull through 2 lps on
hk, ch 1, yo, pull through 4 lps on hk (gathers the next 3 sts, mak-
ing a sh), ch 1, yo, pull through 2 lps on hk; rep from to last st,
pull through 2 lps on hk.
Rep row 2 to desired length.
