When you gather two stitches together, the resulting fabric mimics

a diamond lattice.

Tunisian Double Crochet (Tdc): Yo, insert hk, from right to left,

into front vert bar of next st, yo and pull lp through st, yo and pull

through 2 lps, leaving last lp on hk.

Ch a multiple of 4 sts.

Row 1 (RS) Fwd: Pull up lp in 2nd ch from hk, ch 1, *pull up lp in

next ch, ch 1; rep from * across. Rtn: Yo, pull through 1 lp on hk,

*yo, pull through 2 lps on hk; rep from * to end.

Row 2 Fwd: Ch 1 (counts as 1st st), *sk next 2 sts, yo, insert hk

into front vert bar of next 2 sts at once and pull up a lp, yo, pull

through 2 lps on hk, yo twice, insert hk into vert bar of 2 skipped

sts at once and pull up a lp, yo, pull through 2 lps on hk, yo; rep

from * across to last 3 sts, Tdc in last 3 sts. Rtn: Work off lps as

normal.

Row 3 Fwd: Ch 1 (counts as 1st st), Tdc in next 2 sts, *sk next 2

sts, yo, insert hk into vert bar of next 2 sts at once and pull up a

lp, yo, pull through 2 lps on hk, yo twice, insert hk into vert bar of

last 2 skipped sts and pull up a lp, yo, [pull through 2 lps on hk]

twice, yo; rep from * across to last st, Tdc in last st. Rtn: Work off

lps as normal.

Rep rows 2 and 3 to desired length.

Last row: Ch 1, *sk next 2 sts, yo, insert hk into vert bar of next 2

sts at once and pull up a lp, [yo, pull through 2 lps on hk] twice, ch

1, insert hk into vert bar of last 2 skipped sts and pull up a lp, [yo,

pull through 2 lps on hk] twice; rep from * across, Tdc in next st

and pull through lp on hk to end, fasten off.
