TIP

Granny square patterns are easy to follow because
they are mainly the same pattern on each side of the
motif. The only difference is in the beginning and
ending of each round. If the pattern wants the next
stitch to be at the bottom of the arch made from a
chain space, then it will end in a slip stitch to the
first stitch of the round. If the pattern wants the
next stitch on the next round to be at the top of the
arch of the chain space, then it will break up the last
chain space with a chain and a stitch to the first
stitch. It can be confusing, so instead of thinking of
these last stitches as stitches, look at them as just
additional chain spaces.
