Doily Ideas
Ever fall in love with a doily, but think, “what will I do with it after I am done?” Sure, you can use it as a center-
piece on the dining room table, but do you really want it to get dirty, even by accident? Here are some ways I have
used my doily love around the house: made them with bulky yarn and a big hook for a cozy afghan; dipped them in
stiffening solution and laid them on top of a plastic bowl to dry (making a doily bowl, great for collecting keys);
spray mounted them onto fabric and framed them for funky artwork; appliquéd them on to kids’ clothes and
afghans; used tiny sewing thread to make beautiful earrings; and even encased them in plastic to make spill-proof
coasters. Never let your doily love go to waste; there are always ways to show off crochet in any style house.
