Flapper Edging

This edging is partially filet crochet and partially Belgium lace cro-
chet, producing a lacy special ending to your project.

The stitch pattern can conform to any number of stitches on each
side of the project. Ch 11, sl st to the edge, ch 2, sl st to the edge,
and turn.

Row 1 (WS): Dc in next 5 ch, ch 3, sk 2 ch, sc in next ch, ch 3, dc
in last ch, ch 5, sl st to 1st ch, turn.

Row 2: [Sc, 2 hdc, 5 dc] in ch-5 sp, dc in dc, ch 5, dc in next dc,
ch 4, dc in sl st, sl st to edge, do not turn.

Row 3: Ch 2, sl st to edge, turn, 4 dc in ch-4 sp, dc in next dc, ch
3, sc in ch-5 sp, ch 3, dc in next dc, ch 5, sl st in same dc, turn.

Rep rows 2 and 3 across edge, evenly spacing the sl sts, at the cor-
ner: work rows 2 and 3 halfway between last sl st and corner, work
rows 2 and 3 at corner, place another set halfway from typical edge
sets; rep around ending with a row 2, fasten off with long tail.
Weave tail through 1st and last rows, seaming them together.

Ruffle Edging

This Victorian edging is actually a Belgium lace modified with
shells. The heavy double crochet shells on the last round curl to
ruffle around your project.

Shell (sh): [(Dc, ch 2) 3 times, dc] in st indicated.

The stitch pattern can conform to any number of stitches on each
side of the project. Join the yarn to the edge with a sl st.

Row 1 (RS): Ch 9, sh in 6th ch, ch 2, sl st to edge, turn, ch 2.

Row 2: Sk 1st ch-2 sp on sh, sh in next ch-2 sp, ch 5, turn.

Row 3: Sk 1st ch-2 sp on sh, sh in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, sl st to edge,
turn, ch 2.
