Cable Towers
The taller stitches in these classic cables give you a slight
extra drape that makes this pattern great for afghans.
Ch a multiple of 8 sts plus 3.
Row 1 (RS): Hdc in 3rd ch from hk and ea ch across, turn.
Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as hdc), hdc in ea st across, hdc in top of
t-ch, turn.
Row 3: Ch 2 (counts as hdc), hdc in next 2 hdc, FPtr in next
4 sts 2 rows below, hdc in next 4 hdc; rep from across, end-
ing hdc in last 3 sts, turn.
Row 4: Rep row 2.
Row 5: Ch 2 (counts as hdc), hdc in next 2 hdc, sk 2 sts, FPtr
in next 2 sts 2 rows below, FPtr in skipped 2 sts 2 rows below,
hdc in next 4 sts; rep from across, ending hdc in last 3 sts,
turn.
Rows 6 and 7: Rep rows 2 and 3.
Rep rows 2–7 to desired length.
