CHAIN SPACE STITCH PATTERNS


Picot Trellis


The little chain-three picots in the center of the stitches look
just like little buds starting to bloom on a trellis.


Ch a multiple of 5 sts plus 2.


Row 1 (RS): Sc in 2nd ch from hk, ch 5, sk 4 ch, sc in next
ch; rep from
across, turn.


Row 2: Ch 6, [sc, ch 3, sc] in 1st ch-5 sp, ch 5, sk next sc,
[sc, ch 3, sc] in next ch-5 sp; rep from
across to last ch-5 sp,
ch 2, tr in last sc, turn.


Row 3: Ch 1, sc in tr, ch 5, sk ch-3 sp, [sc, ch 3, sc] in next
ch-5 sp; rep from
across to last ch-5 sp, ch 5, sk ch-3 sp, sc
in t-ch sp, turn.


Rep rows 2 and 3 to desired length.

TIP


Chain-space stitch patterns all have one
thing in common besides a bunch of
chains: blocking. Each of these stitch
patterns comes alive when you block it.
Their look changes if you stretch them
really taut or keep them loose. Either
way, you are rewarded in kind when you
take the time to block these patterns.
