of each day, workers put the ballots into
sealed pouches documenting how many
were inside. The counts were rechecked
when the pouches arrived at the central
elections offi ce.
‘‘I come from banking,’’ said Lisa
Lewis, the election supervisor in Volusia
County. ‘‘I treat these ballots like money,
with the same level of security.’’
