Carson Philips (John Travolta), a Los
Angeles private eye, returns to his old Texan
hometown of Galveston to investigate what
initially seems to be a typical missing-persons
case. However, his own dark past comes
into the picture as he encounters a range of
characters including crime boss Doc (Morgan
Freeman) and club singer Rose (Kat Graham).
