Bird photography competition now open
Avian lovers have until 30 September to enter SINWP Bird
Photographer of the Year. The contest helps to raise funds for the
RSPB, with a donation of £1 per entry – 100% of the donation goes
direct to the charity. The overall winner of the competition will win

Firmware 2.0 available for Nikon Z 6 and Z 7
The new firmware for Nikon’s Z 6 and Z 7 cameras includes the
introduction of Eye-Detection autofocus (AF) in stills mode,
extension of the low-light AF detection range and the addition of
auto-exposure (AE) tracking in continuous high-speed (extended)
mode. You can download the firmware from the Nikon website.

New specifications include a
more powerful battery good
for 450 full-power flashes per
charge, compared to 350 with
the A1. Other functions include
a 1-second recycling time. The
A1X is available now for £949.Panasonic Lumix GX880 launched
Aimed at bloggers, the new GX880 Micro Four Thirds camera
features a 16-million-pixel sensor and 4K video recording. A
flip-up rear screen allows for easy framing when recording selfies
or presenting your own videos. Available in black, silver or tan, it
also features an anti-slip grip. The GX880 will be available in June
for £399.99 with the Lumix G X Vario 12-32mm F3.5-5.6 ASPH lens.
