IT’S SPRINGTIME AND GARDEN

EVENTS ARE IN BLOOM!

From the art of gardening to art in gardens, springtime in Paris can only
mean one thing: a flowering of events in the capital’s lush,
green spaces. We’ve picked the best of the bunch – so now it’s up
to you to get your walking shoes on!M. D.

Jardins, Jardin in the Tuileries gardens celebrates the initiatives
that are greening our cities in countless ways, helping improve
the lives of city-dwellers everywhere. Façades, roofs, vacant floor space,
whatever the size – everything is being turned into an urban haven
for plants. Among the gardens on show are 13 amazing 50-150 sq.m.
spaces, including a gourmet kitchen plot, perched gardens, a rose
garden, and harmonious, elegant creations by Champagne Brimoncourt

  • Alexandre Tonnerre. Twenty or so other gardens, smaller (10-50 sq.m)
but in a similar vein, will be created in the terraces and balconies sector.
The “Village des projets” is a great place to see what the gardens of
    the future will look like.
An urban garden can have a modern setting and furnishings or a more
vintage vibe. At the “Village des antiquaires de jardin”, dealers from

antiques market and from the Foire de
Chatou will present antiques and furniture for outdoor spaces.
This four-day event will include talks, workshops for kids and adults,
guided tours of the Jardin des Tuileries, exhibitions, awards and the
naming by the Truffaut foundation of a rose tree in honor of Christine
Janin, doctor, mountaineer and founder of the organization À chacun
son Everest. Created by André Eve, this climbing rose – what else? –
is a towering marvel of red and pink striated flowers. ■
