Course Outcomes

Unit I The students will gain knowledge on the basics of elastic properties of matter
and their engineering applications
Unit II The students will acquire knowledge of physics of oscillations, waves and
optical devices and be able to apply this knowledge to fibre optics
Unit III The students will have adequate knowledge of thermal properties of mate-
rials and their applications in expansion joints, heat exchangers and other
similar devices
Unit IV The students will get introductory knowledge of concepts of quantum theory
and their applications in electron microscopy
Unit V The students will understand the basics of crystal physics, crystal structures
and learn dierent crystal growth techniques.
