ASSEMBLE STAR POINT UNITS
Measurements include^1 ⁄ 4 " seam
allowances. Sew with right sides
together unless otherwise stated.
Press seams in directions
indicated by arrows on diagrams.
If no direction is specified, press
seam toward darker fabric.
When assembling star point units,
slightly vary triangle placement to
create the uneven star points that give
the quilt whimsy. While triangle angles
can vary, the triangles must cover the
corners when pressed open.
- Referring to Diagram 1 for
placement, layer a light print triangle
atop one corner of a dark print 2^1 ⁄ 2 "
square. Sew a scant^1 ⁄ 4 " from long
edge of triangle. Press open attached
triangle. Repeat to add a second
triangle to an adjacent corner. - Trim pieced unit to 2^1 ⁄ 2 " square
to make a light star point unit
(Diagram 2). - Repeat steps 1 and 2 to make 160
light star point units total.
