From orange print, cut:
▫ 8—2^1 ∕ 2 × 42" binding strips
ASSEMBLE SUBUNITS
Measurements include^1 ∕ 4 " seam
allowances. Sew with right sides
together unless otherwise stated.
Press seams in directions
indicated by arrows on diagrams.
If no direction is specified, press
seam toward darker fabric.
- Sew together a solid white 1× 21"strip
and a blue print 1 × 21" strip to make a
blue strip set (Diagram 1). Repeat to
make seven blue strip sets total.
Cut strip sets into 128 total 1"-wide
blue segments. - Using assorted dark orange, yellow,
and red print 1 × 21" strips, repeat Step 1
to make 128 dark orange segments, 128
yellow segments, and 64 red segments. - Referring to Diagram 2, join a blue
print 1 × 1 1 ∕ 2 " rectangle to right-hand
edge of a blue segment to make a blue
subunit. The subunit should be 1^1 ∕ 2 "
square including seam allowances.
Repeat to make 64 blue subunits total.
FINISHED QUILT: 68^1 ∕ 2 " square
FINISHED BLOCK: 17" square
