1. Sew together a red print 2 × 21" strip
   and a gold print 2 × 21" strip to make
   a strip set. Repeat to make three strip
   sets. Cut strip sets into twenty-four 2"-
   wide segments (Diagram 8).
   2. Referring to Diagram 9, sew
   together two 2"-wide segments to
   make a Four-Patch unit. The unit
   should be 3^1 ∕ 2 " square including seam
   allowances. Repeat to make 12 Four-
   Patch units total.
   3. Sew dark brown floral 1^1 ∕ 8 × 3 1 ∕ 2 "
   strips to opposite edges of a Four-
   Patch unit (Diagram 10). Join dark
   brown floral 1^1 ∕ 8 × 4 3 ∕ 4 " strips to
   remaining edges to make block center.
   Repeat to make 12 block centers total.
