- Cut and piece aqua print 5×42"
strips to make:
▫ 2—5× 711 ∕ 2 " outer border strips
▫ 2—5× 581 ∕ 2 " outer border strips
- Sew long outer border strips to
long edges of quilt center. Press seams
toward outer border.
- Sew red floral 5" squares to ends
of short outer border strips to make
pieced outer border strips. Join pieced
outer border strips to remaining edges
of quilt center to complete quilt top.
Press seams toward outer border.
FINISH QUILT
- Layer quilt top, batting, and backing;
baste. (For details, see Complete Quilt,
page 103.)
- Quilt as desired. Kaylene Parry
machine-quilted a swirl pattern across
the quilt top (Quilting Diagram).
- Bind with red diagonal check
binding strips. (For details, see
Complete Quilt.)

black to create a 27^1 ∕ 2 "-square
table topper version of Day at
the Beach. She fussy-cut the
small rectangles surrounding
the cornerstone Pinwheel
units. She also carefully cut and
pieced the gold directional print
so it travels in one direction.
