The German capital needn’t be all
about biergartens and the queue
for Berghain. Local fitness expert
Erik Jäger has your new itinerary

The Best and

Wurst of Berlin

HOLIDAY REPS

02 The Workout Spot
Put that coffee to use in the
Sistine Chapel – kind of. This
gym’s, um, eccentric design
makes it a welcome switch-up
from the daily grind. Give one
of its relentless classes a go,
all soundtracked by a local DJ.
John Reed Fitness, Prenzlauer
Allee 248/251, 10405

04 The Worthy Re-Feed
Daluma is a favourite for its
vegan superfood dishes. It
offers delicious, nutritious
dishes and uses sustainable
ingredients. You’ll probably
have to Instagram your meal
before you can eat it, basically.
Daluma, Weinbergsweg 3,
10119

07 The Reset
Shake off last night’s cobwebs
at Spirit Yoga. Make sure you
head to the Charlottenburg
gym, which is equipped with a
spa for an emergency massage
or sauna, depending on just
how late you made it home...
Spirit Yoga Charlottenburg,
Goethestraße 2-3, 10623

01 The Fuel Stop
Coffee snobs from across the
capital come here for their
morning shot. There might be
a queue, but it’s worth the wait.
They serve top-quality coffee
to pep up your fitness efforts,
minus the hipster prices: your
double macchiato is only €2.
DoubleEye Coffee,
Akazienstraße 21, 10823

03 The Cardio Fix
It’s a short dash to Volkspark,
where you can power through
a finisher of hill sprints and
catch your breath on a mound
made out of Second World
War bunker rubble, complete
with a spectacular view of
Berlin’s city centre.
Volkspark Friedrichshain,
10249

06 The Unwind
Tucked under the train tracks
by Friedrichstrasse Station,
Bar Tausend is hard to find, so
go before you’ve had too many.
Make it past the selective
door policy to luxuriate in one
of Berlin’s coolest bars and
sip a Kyoto cocktail.
Bar Tausend,
Schiffbauerdamm 11, 10117

05 The Pig Out
What began as a cart in a Berlin
market in 1959 is now the high
point for currywurst, Berlin’s
combo of sausage and curried
ketchup. Krasselt’s is just off
the beaten track, so you can
avoid the long lines of tourists
found at more mediocre spots.
Krasselt’s Imbiss, Steglitzer
Damm 22, 12169
