If you’re concerned about a robot coming
along in the future and stealing your job,
spare a thought for guard dogs. The poor
prowling pooches can already see their
successors hovering on the horizon – and
they look like Ring’s impossibly futuristic
Always Home Cam.
It’s not hard to see why you might opt
for a security drone over a slobbering
four-legged sentry. For starters, you don’t
have to feed it twice a day, pick up its little
robo-turds or take it for a walk – it does
the latter all by itself, periodically taking to
the air to embark on its preset surveillance

route around your house. The rest of the
time it sits in its charging dock, although it’ll
spring into action if it senses a disturbance
somewhere and needs to investigate using
its built-in 1080p camera.
The Always Home Cam is capable of
flying for five minutes before needing to
refuel, so all but the biggest gaffs should be
covered, and it’ll make enough noise when
in flight to ensure it doesn’t sneak up on
you getting out of the shower. Old Fido and
his wet nose always did love to do that.

There’s no word on UK
availability yet – and if you’re
concerned about a robot
invasion, the 5min flight time
means an army of them will
never make it across
the Atlantic.

Its charging dock physically
blocks off the camera
