STUFF SAYS ++++,
The best all-round smartwatch,
especially for iPhone users, but
there are better deals to be had

The Series 6 is a superb smartwatch
with ambitions to be a total wellness
deity. But while the new sensors are
useful, they’re not vital for most. So
yes, this is a fine statement gadget
with handy futureproofing as Apple continues
to develop its Health app, but the £269 Watch
SE over the page is every bit as quick without
the SpO2 smarts. @NatalyaPaul

Q True blood
It can’t guarantee accuracy
if the watch isn’t straight
and flush against your
wrist; but testing alongside
a Withings ScanWatch
SpO2 sensor, our results
were often exactly the
same or 1% either side.

Q There will be blood
The Watch tracks oxygen
saturation by shining a red
LED at the blood vessels
in your wrist, with photo-
diodes measuring the
amount of light reflected
back. Basically it’s all about
the colour of your blood.

Q Bloody Nora
Results are tucked away
in the Health app under
the ‘respiratory’ section,
where you’ll see daily
averages and sleep data.
It’s a lot of info, and out-
of-context stats can be
scary for hypochondriacs.

Q Rush of blood
It’ll take background
measurements through
the day, but you can also
get an SpO2 reading at
any point by selecting
‘Blood Oxygen’ on the
watch and waiting for the
15-second countdown.

It’s no doctor, but Apple’s blood oxygen tracking
can still be a good indicator of respiratory issues
