Measure One Liter
Materials: measuring jug or 1 liter cylinder, bowl of water, funnel, containers of various shapes
and sizes, large plastic tub to place containers in when pouring water, paper towels
- Work with a partner, or small group. Choose a container and take turns
to fill it with water using a funnel until you estimate that you have reached
one liter. - Carefully pour the water from the container into a measuring jug (or 1 liter
cylinder) to determine the actual capacity using metric units. - Add to, or remove water until you have exactly one liter.
- Repeat with a container of a different size or shape.
- Record your data in a table with the headings shown below.
