Key Concepts
Rates and Functions (Lesson 1)
- A function is a relationship that assigns exactly
one output value for each input value.
Slope (Lesson 2)
- A rate of change is a rate that describes how one
quantity changes in relation to another. The slope
of a graph is the rate of change between any two
points on a line.
Variation (Lesson 3)

Vocabulary Check
Choose the term from the list above that best
matches each phrase.
- the rate of change between any two points
on a line - the set of input values for a function
- a relationship when corresponding x and
y values have a constant product - the constant ratio
- a relation in which each element of the
input is paired with exactly one element
of the output according to a specified rule - the set of output values for a function
- a table used to organize the input
numbers, output numbers, and the
function rule - two variable quantities have a constant
ratio - the rate of change in a linear relationship
- the operation performed on the input of a
function - rate that describes how one quantity
changes in relation to another - graph of a straight line
