Another way to describe the chance of an event occurring is with odds. The
odds in favor of an event is a ratio that compares the number of ways the event
can occur to the number of ways that the event cannot occur.
Suppose you want to find the odds in favor of rolling a 5 or 6 on a
number cube.
2:4 or 1:2

So, the odds in favor of rolling a 5 or 6 is 1:2.


  1. A letter from the alphabet is chosen at random. Find the odds in favor of
    picking an A, E, U, or O.
