Each of the three trigonometric ratios has a reciprocal. The reciprocals: cosecant (cosec), secant (sec) and
cotangent (cot), are defined as follows:
cosec=1
sin
sec=1
cos
cot=1
tanWe can also define these reciprocals for any right-angled triangle:
cosec=hypotenuse
oppositesec=hypotenuse
adjacentcot=adjacent
oppositeNote that:
sincosec= 1
cossec= 1
tancot= 1VISIT:
