What percent of 5 is 2?

SOLUTION

Draw the circle and place 5 in the ‘‘of’’ section and 2 in the ‘‘is’’ section
(see Fig. 6-7).

Then divide^25 ¼ 2  5 ¼ 0 :40 Change the decimal to a percent: 0.40¼40%.

EXAMPLE
45 is what percent of 60?

SOLUTION
Draw the circle and put 45 in the ‘‘is’’ section and 60 in the ‘‘of’’ section
(see Fig. 6-8).

Then divide^4560 ¼ 45  60 ¼ 0 :75. Change the decimal to a percent:
0.75¼75%.
