The volume of a cylinder can be found by using the formulaV¼r^2 h, where
r is the radius of the base and h is the height.

EXAMPLE

Find the volume of the cylinder shown in Figure 9-19. Usep¼ 3 :14.

SOLUTION

V¼pr^2 h
¼ 3 : 14 ð3ftÞ^2 6ft
¼ 169 :56 ft^3

The volume of a sphere can be found by using the formula V¼^43 r^3 , where r
is the radius of the sphere.

EXAMPLE

Find the volume of the sphere shown in Figure 9-20. Usep¼ 3 :14.
