Changing Improper Fractions to


Mixed Numbers


An improper fraction can be changed into an equivalent mixed number. For
example,^134 is the same as 3^14.
To change an improper fraction to an equivalent mixed number, first divide
the numerator by the denominator and then write the answer as a whole number
and the remainder as a fraction with the divisor as the denominator and the
remainder as the numerator. It may be necessary to reduce the fraction.


EXAMPLE

Change^175 to a mixed number.
