EXAMPLE

Change^156 to a mixed number.

SOLUTION

2
6 Þ 15
 12
3
Write the answer as 2^36 and reduce^36 to^12. Hence, the answer is 2^12.

Math Note: Any fraction where the numerator is equal to the
denominator is always equal to one. For example,^77 ¼ 1 ;^1212 ¼1, etc.

Improper fractions are sometimes equal to whole numbers. This happens
when the remainder is zero.
