Math Note: Zeros can be affixed to the end of a decimal on the
right side of the decimal point. For example, 0.62 can be written as
0.620 or 0.6200. Likewise, the zeros can be dropped if they are at the
end of a decimal on the right side of the decimal point. For example,
0.3750 can be written as 0.375.

Addition of Decimals


In order to add two or more decimals, write the numbers in a column placing the
decimal points of each number in a vertical line. Add the numbers and place the
decimal point in the sum directly under the other decimal points above.

EXAMPLE
Add 3.2þ56.87þ381.561.

SOLUTION
3 : 200 Zeros are annexed to keep the columns straight
56 : 870
þ 381 : 561
441 : 631

EXAMPLE
Add 47.315þ126.2þ0.03.

SOLUTION
47 : 315
126 : 200
þ 0 : 030
173 : 545
