dies down, this year’s successful
handlers will be proudly displaying
their treasured trophies, and reliving happy
memories. However, it’s worth sparing
a thought for those dogs who, for one
reason or another, were unable to perform

Heelwork to music (HTM) competitor
Caroline Garrett, from Brighton, Sussex,
will always regret that her beautiful dog,
Rose, did not manage to dance her way
into the history books by becoming the
i rst Whippet to compete in the i nals
at the world’s biggest dog show. After
overcoming many dii cult hurdles to get
there, Rose’s autoimmune illness forced
Caroline to withdraw, just weeks prior to
the show.

since she was seven months old,” recalled
Caroline. “She has been close to death
several times in the past, and so this year
I could not have been happier when she
became the i rst Whippet to qualify to

Rose is a lovely, sweet-natured dog.
