WRSA-KZN Central to Northern KZN
The central to northern KZN is in the fortunate
position that its animals have access to the
well-known KZN lush bush and nutrition,
creating generations of monster-sized
specimens. But at the same time, they can
claim the acclimatisation to some of the worst
conditions that animals can experience. Their
animals have been exposed to excessive
drought and freezing cold conditions
similar to those of the Free State in the past
decade, occasionally snowing in areas as
far as southeast of Dundee. At the same
time there are large pockets of thorn-bush in
this area, where heartwater and sometimes
even redwater disease are rife on the edges.
The animals coming out of these areas are
therefore resistant to these diseases. Breeders
and wildlife ranchers from
other provinces have recently realised this
and are now starting to import their supply of
naturally and untouched genetics from this
central to northern KZN area. It is quite rare to
get areas
like this that can produce animals that are not
only naturally acclimatised to the cold, but
also resistant to diseases such as heartwater.
WRSA-KZN Zululand en die bosveld
Die verre noordoostelike deel van KZN,
ook bekend as Zululand, is die hart van die
ekotoerisme- en jaggebied in die provinsie.
Die ongelooflike mooi bosveld met groot
platkroon acacias,
rooi ivoor- en koorsbome is ikonies
van die omgewing.
Buiten die Groot 5, is daar meer as
350 voëlspesies, waaronder ’n aantal skaars
spesies wat uitsluitlik hier voorkom, die
Jozini-dam met sy tiervis, Sodwanabaai,
Kosibaai, en parke soos Hluhluwe/Umfolozi,
Cape Vidal en Ndumo. Dit alles binne twee
ure maksimum van mekaar! Q
