MILFORD-ON-SEA BEACH
This long shingle beach of ers excellent views of the Isle
of Wight. It is one of the few beaches in Hampshire where
dogs are allowed all year round and there is a great walk
from the beach along Hurst Spit to Hurst Castle.
You’ll i nd parking and toilet facilities, plus a couple of
cafes, and an ice cream kiosk nearby. Dogs are allowed,
but the beach backs onto a nature reserve and the area is
covered by the Land Fouling Act, meaning dog mess must
be cleared up.
CALSHOT BEACH
Calshot beach forms part of a mile-long shingle spit
which reaches out into the mouth of Southampton Water.
From here you get a great view of the ships coming and
going from one of the UK’s largest ports. Nearby there
is a centre of ering a range of outdoor activities and
watersports. Dogs are allowed on the beach, but must be
kept on a lead.
LEPE BEACH
A stony beach that forms part of Lepe Country Park,
situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Enjoy
excellent views across to the Isle of Wight and coastal walks
alongside pine-fringed clif s and wild l ower meadows.
There are toilets, a cafe, and plenty of picnic spots.
Dogs are allowed at Lepe Country Park, but are restricted
in a couple of areas. There is a family beach area
where dogs aren’t allowed and also a nature reserve.
NEW FOREST
HERITAGE CENTRE
To i nd out more about the New Forest and
the national park, head to the New Forest
Heritage Centre, situated in the heart of the
Forest at Lyndhurst. Packed full of displays
and activities, it’s a fantastic way to get to
know the area and its history.
BUCKLER’S HARD
On the banks of the Beaulieu River, the
charming hamlet of Buckler’s Hard is one of
the most unique attractions in the Forest.
This untouched shipbuilding village is
where ships for Nelson’s l eet at Trafalgar
were built.
Visitors can explore the maritime
museum and shipwrights’ cottages.
On-lead dogs can enjoy the open space
along the riverfront, and, from Easter
to October, join you for a cruise along
the Beaulieu River, spotting the local
wildlife and discovering the area’s
fascinating history.

Take a dip
The New Forest isn’t the fi rst place you’d think of if you
were planning a trip to the seaside. But, in fact, this
is one of the area’s best-kept secrets. The New Forest
boasts 40 miles of beautiful coastline and many of its
beaches are dog friendly.

This pretty Georgian market town lies
in the south of the New Forest, in
Hampshire, surrounded on three sides by
the national park.

Beaulieu village is a favourite tourist stop
for visitors to the New Forest, and The
Beaulieu Estate, home to the Montague
family since 1538, comprises Palace
