Analysis and Design of a Modern SCADA System

threshold (receiver sensitivity) value. It was found that the transmitted
power at 300m distance (default maximum propagation delay allowed by
theIEEE 802.11 WLAN standard in OPNET) is equal to 0. 2887 mW[ 78 ].
The (L) is given by the propagation velocity of light (C) divided by the
frequency (2.4 GHz).
Frequency = 2.401 GHz = 2.401E+9.0 Hz, which is the IEEE 802.11b
frequency
Light speed (C) = 3.0 E+8.0 meter / second
Lambda (L) in meters is given by:

퐿(푚푒푡푒푟)=푓퐶푟푒(푚푞푢푒푒푡푛푒푟푐푦^ 푠(푒퐻푐푍)).................................................. ( 3 - 23 )

퐿= 2.^3401.^0 퐸퐸++^89 = 0.124947938 meter ......................................... ( 3 - 24)

The speed of 802.11 systems is distance dependent. It is noted
fromFigure 3.12 that 802.11b and 8 0 2.11g standards have the same
distances when operating in 11Mbpsdatarate [ 79 ].

To calculate the received power of each node equation (3- 25 ) is used.
